1. Exposed Exterior Surfaces: All visible exterior surfaces when installed, including those seen with doors and drawers closed, undersides of cabinet bottoms above 42", tops below 80" or visible from upper levels, front edges of structural components, and any visible sloping tops.
2. Exposed Interior Surfaces: All interior surfaces visible in open casework or behind transparent doors, including shelves with edgebanding, divisions, partitions, interior faces of ends, backs, bottoms, top members 36" or higher, and interior faces of doors and applied drawer fronts.
3. Semi-Exposed Surfaces: Interior surfaces visible only when doors or drawers are opened, including tops and bottoms of shelves with front edgebanding, divisions, partitions, interior faces of ends, backs, bottoms, top members 36" or higher, drawer components (sides, sub fronts, backs, bottoms), undersides of cabinet bottoms between 24"–42" above the floor, and security panels or drawer stretchers.
4. Concealed Surfaces: Exterior or interior surfaces that are covered or not normally visible, including toe spaces, sleepers, stretchers, solid sub tops, undersides of cabinet bottoms below 24", flat tops of cabinets 80" or higher (unless visible from above), three non-visible edges of adjustable shelves, undersides of knee spaces, aprons, and drawer boxes below 36", and faces of cabinet ends where adjoining units meet.
1. Duty Level 3 – Institutional: Casework designed and tested for high-use environments such as schools, hospitals, and public buildings.
2. Duty Level 4 – Laboratory: Casework designed and tested for laboratory and other high-load environments, such as scientific, medical, and research facilities.
